Career Notes: On pace to become Stetson’s all-time assists leader … enters final season ranked fifth with 432 assists, 94 behind current career leader Frank Ireland, who had 526 assists from 1987-91 … one of four players in school history with 100 or more assists in three straight seasons.
2016-17 (Junior): Took over as Stetson’s primary point guard and led the Atlantic Sun Conference in assists (162) and assists per game (5.4) … both figures are the most for a Hatter since the 2000-01 season … played in 30 games with 28 starts … missed two games in February with an injury … reached double figures in assists three times, with a high of 13 in a win over Florida College … effort was also his first career double-double … had five or more assists 18 times … scored in double figures eight times, with a high of 20 against Florida A&M … added 12 assists for a double-double in Stetson’s comeback win … grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds at Alabama.
2015-16 (Sophomore): Teamed with Divine Myles to form one of the top point guard duos in the nation … Rivera and Myles are the first Stetson teammates to each have 100 assists in back-to-back seasons … ranked second in the A-Sun in total assists and fourth in assists per game (4.4) … also ranked 10th in steals per game (1.2) … scored in double figures eight times, including a season-high 21 points in double overtime home loss to Tennessee State … sank four 3-pointers against the Tigers and had four assists and three steals while playing a career-high 39 minutes … had five or more assists 15 times, including a career-high 11 assists in home win over USC Upstate … dished 10 assists in A-Sun Tournament semifinal win at Lipscomb … was the lone bright spot in Stetson’s loss at Georgia Southern, scoring 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting … scored 10 points in win at Kennesaw State, which was Stetson’s first conference road victory in two years … averaged 6.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists in conference play.
2014-15 (Freshman): Capped an impressive freshman season by earning A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honors after averaging 18 points and four assists in Stetson’s final two regular-season games … set the school record for freshman assists with 120 … ranked fifth in the A-Sun in total assists and fourth in assists per game (3.9) … teamed with fellow freshman Divine Myles to become the first Stetson teammates to each record 100 assists in the same season … scored a season-high 22 points in regular-season finale at North Florida … appeared in all 31 games, making eight starts … scored in double figures 11 times … led the team by shooting .398 from 3-point range, ranking third in the A-Sun … tallied 15 points against Lipscomb, including the game-winning basket with less than two seconds left in home victory … had five or more assists nine times, including a season-high nine against Palm Beach Atlantic … averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in A-Sun games.
Before Stetson: 2013 graduate of Hughes STEM High School in Cincinnati, Ohio … spent the 2013-14 season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. … as a senior he averaged 17.2 points and 7.3 assists per game, helping Hughes to a 19-5 record and sectional and district championships, earning all-conference and all-district honors ... averaged 15.6 points and 8.3 assists as a junior … an experienced international player, he is a member of the Virgin Islands national team and helped lead V.I. to a bronze medal at the FIBA CBC Championship (Caribebasket) by averaging 6.0 points, 6.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game … previously represented his home country at the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, averaging 7.0 points, 6.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds in five games … scored a tournament-high 14 points in a victory over Mexico, and dished 10 assists in a win against Columbia … member of the honor roll and was named the top student-athlete as a senior at Hughes … also lettered in track & field.
