Tommy Vickers steps into the newly created role as Director of Baseball Operations. His responsibilities include overseeing all travel planning for the Hatters, oversight the program’s budget, handling the organization of student managers, including setup and breakdown for practice, on-campus recruiting efforts and oversight of the programs’ video scouting.

Vickers is also a liaison for community relations, as well as with Athletic Communication and Game Day operations. He also plans, organizes and runs all of the Hatters’ camps.

“Tommy is a go-getter and an absolute grinder,” Hatters head coach Steve Trimper said. “He went to Eastern Connecticut, which is where I played, and worked for my old coach. Coach Holowaty actually recommended him for this job and he is a Hall of Fame coach with more than 1,900 career wins in Division III with four national championships.

“Tommy is a great person and tenacious worker, which is exactly the kind of person I want to have around the Stetson Baseball program.”

Vickers comes to Stetson from the Philadelphia Phillies organization where he served as an operations assistant with specific oversight of the spring training facility in Clearwater. Prior to joining the Phillies in 2015, he spent a season as an operations intern with the Huntsville Stars, the former Southern League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

As an undergraduate at Eastern Connecticut State, where he received his Bachelors in Business Management in 2013, he served as an assistant equipment manager in addition to volunteering in baseball operations.

“Tommy Vickers is the best young man I worked with in my 45 years at Eastern Connecticut,” legendary coach Bill Holowaty said. “He will be a great addition to the university, and the baseball program. He is an extremely hard-working, dedicated, loyal individual. Everyone at Stetson will benefit from Tommy's commitment to excellence. This job is a great opportunity for Tommy, and I believe he will do an incredible job.”

Vickers was a three-time All-State baseball player in high school in New Hampshire before missing his senior season after tearing his MCL and ACL while playing basketball. He reinjured his MCL a year later and had to have it surgically removed.

"It's an honor to join such a prestigious program and university, Vickers said. “My job is to essentially let the coaches coach, the players play, and I'll take care of the rest."
