Charlie Bartlett returns to the Stetson Baseball program for the 2020 season after spending the 2019 campaign as a video scout intern for Sports Information Systems. He will serve as the Hatters' Video and Data Analytics Coordinator.
His role at SIS was to collect offensive and defensive data on all college, major and minor league games in order to perform advanced scouting focused on creating descriptive defensive measures, shifts, type and location of batted balls and other data mining operations.
In 2019 Bartlett served as team video coordinator for the Hatters during their run to ASUN and NCAA Regional championships. He was responsible for the operation of the BATS system to capture video analytics data for the team in addition to using Flight Scope, which is a Doppler radar system used to track spin rates and trajectory. He will return to those roles for the Hatters in 2020.
All of the data Bartlett collects is immediately assimilated and available for the Stetson players and coaches to use to improve the level of play on the field. He will also assist in scouting and other team development processes.
A native of Manhattan, New York, Bartlett grew up in Vermont where he attended the Vermont Commons School in Burlington before completing his prep schooling at the Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California, where he was a tennis standout.
He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas before enrolling at Stetson University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Business in 2018.Â
In addition to his work with the Stetson baseball program, Bartlett has worked as a tennis instructor in both Vermont and California, was an intern with Silver Belt Investments in San Francisco and worked as a Baseball Operations Intern with the San Francisco Giants.
