Clay Mazza came to Stetson in 2015 from Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina, and assisted in coaching the Hatters’ tight ends. He moved into the role of full time tights ends coach for the 2016 season.
In addition to his work with the tight ends, Mazza also works with the Hatters’ special teams and serves as the programs’ primary liaison to area high school coaches.
Mazza holds a BA degree from Lenoir Rhyne University where he majored in Sports Management and minored in Psychology. Mazza finished up his career as a three time member of the SAC commissioner honor roll and a member of Alpha Kappa Delta Honors Society
Mazza was a three year letter winner as a tight end for the Bears, which included three conference championships and an appearance in the National Championship game in 2013.
During his senior year, Mazza worked as assistant coach primarily on the offensive side of the ball and special teams, working with scout teams, video coordinating and recruiting the state of Florida for the Bears.
Mazza, who is brother to former Hatters running back Cole Mazza, is from Ponte Vedra Beach Florida.Â
