  • Joined the Hatters staff as the defensive backs coach in March 2019
  • Was promoted to Defensive coordinator for the 2021 season
  • Has a long history as a coach of developing NFL talent
  • Is in his 45th season as a collegiate coach
Before Stetson
  • Spent 14 seasons as defensive coordinator at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
    • During his tenure in Perkinston, the Bulldogs had an undefeated national championship team in 2007 to go with three state championships and seven South Division crowns
  • Was the defensive coordinator at Middle Tennessee State from 2001-03 during which time the Blue Raiders posted an 11-8 record in Sun Belt Conference play
  • Served as defensive backs coach at Southern Mississippi for five seasons
  • Served as linebackers coach at Tulane University for two seasons, including an undefeated season in 1998
  • Also had coaching stints at Auburn, Troy, LSU, Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama), North Alabama and East Mississippi Community College
As a Player
  • Played at what is now known as West Alabama from 1970-74
  • Was a part of the Tigers' 1971 NAIA national championship team
  • Was an All-Gulf South Conference selection in 1973 as a defensive back
  • Was named to the All-Alabama Small College team
  • Began his coaching career at his Alma Mater in 1975
  • Was inducted into the West Alabama Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991
Personal Information
  • Originally from Union Chapel, Ala., near Aliceville
  • Earned both his bachelor's (1975) and master's (1977) degrees from Livingston
  • Is a licensed pilot and a member of the Airplane Owners and Piolots Association
  • He and his wife, Brenda, who is from Linden, Ala., have one daughter, Whitney
  • Has four grand children - Lexi, Carson, Adam and Tucker
  • Enjoys fishing, flying, play golf and scuba diving
