Thomas Wells

Thomas Wells joined the Stetson Football coaching staff as defensive backs coach in April of 2018.
 
Wells joined the Hatters after spending the previous two seasons as a defensive graduate assistant / quality control coach with the University of Kentucky. While with the Wildcats, Wells was a part of a coaching staff that saw Kentucky become bowl eligible for the first time in seven seasons when it played in the Tax Slayer Bowl in 2016.
 
Prior to Kentucky, Wells served as a defensive intern at Eastern Kentucky University during the 2015 season where he assisted the defensive coaching staff with practice and game plans, while facilitating linebacker drills in practice and on game days.
 
Before that, Wells served at Wayne State College in 2013-14, where he was a graduate assistant coach for outside linebackers. He earned his Master's Degree in Organizational Management in 2015.
 
Wells' coaching experience also includes serving as football operations intern at the University of Nebraska football camp (2014 & 2015), defensive / linebackers / special teams coach at Boone Central Schools (2010-13) and linebackers coach at Chadron State College football camp (2007-09).
 
Prior to coaching, Wells played semiprofessional football in the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) League for the Sioux City Bandits from 2011-13. While with the Bandits, Wells played linebacker helping the team to an undefeated season en route to winning the league championship during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
 
A native of Albion, Neb., Wells is a 2010 graduate of Chadron State, where he was a team member for four seasons. In 36 career games he made 75 tackles and scored three defensive touchdowns. While with Chadron State, the Eagles won three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships.

Wells is married to the former Sarah Jones of Wyoming, Iowa. The couple has one daughter, Adalynn Mae, who was born in December of 2017.
