Redshirt Sophomore (2018): Spent the season as a member of the student video staff.

Redshirt Freshman (2017): Saw action in four games at wide receiver... Made four catches for 21 yards on the season... Caught two passes for 11 yards against San Diego (10/28)... Caught two passes for 10 yards against Campbell (9/23).

Freshman (2016): Redshirted, did not see playing time ... Was selected as the Hatters' offensive scout team player of the week for the Davidson game. 

High School: Was a four-year letter winner for coach Steve Seward at Umatilla HS where he played receiver and defensive back ... Was also a four-year letter winner as point guard on the basketball team, one year on the weightlifting team and one year on the baseball team in addition to competing in track ... Had 20 receptions as a senior for 296 yards and three touchdowns while also recording 32 tackles with two interceptions, one returned for a score ... Was a member of the National Honor Society and graduate Magna Cum Laude.

Personal: Full name is Makhail Renard Smith ... Was born on November 4, 1996, in Pensacola ... Is the son of Yvette and Todd Smith ... His cousin, Eric Samuels, played college football at Vanderbilt (2009-12) and for the Edmonton Eskimos (2013-15) ... Is a Computer Science major.
