After spending two seasons as a member of the Hatters' football team, missing significant time with injuries, Lawson transitioned into being a student-assistant in the equipment room where he helps with equipment needs for multiple sports. Although no longer an active member of the football roster, he has been named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll twice. He will be a senior during the 2020-21 academic year.
