Shelby Coker joined the Stetson Athletics family in March of 2022 as the Hatters Head Equipment Manager. In his role at Stetson, he oversees the equipment operations for all 19 Hatters teams, including the cheer squad, and manages the equipment rooms at the Athletic Training Center, the Edmunds Center as well as Melching Field while also providing support for laundry operations at Patricia Wilson Field and the Sandra Stetson Aquatics Facility.

A Gainesville native, Coker arrived at Stetson from the University of Maine where he had served as the Assistant Equipment Manager since April of 2018. During his time in Orono he fine-tuned the skills he brings to work at Stetson every day, including the ability to properly fit and adjust equipment for the Hatters football team.

He is certified by the Athletic Equipment Manager's Association which allows him to oversee the safety of the equipment the Hatters wear on the field every day.

Coker is also experienced at managing team travel and setting up CoachComm XSystems communications systems for home and away games. During his time at Maine he also worked with BSN, Stetson's preferred vendor, to make sure all of the Hatters' teams are outfitted with the best Nike gear available.

Prior to his time at the University of Maine, Coker served as an assistant equipment manager at James Madison University in Virginia (2017-18), at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (2015-17) and at Florida Atlantic University (2015) in addition to his time at his alma mater (2014-15). Outside of college athletics, Coker has worked with the South Florida United Youth Soccer Association and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers Soccer Club.

In addition to his B.A. in Sports/Entertainment/Event Management from Johnson & Wales, Coker earned an Master of Arts in Education from Nebraska-Kearney and he is currently worked toward a Master of Education in Kinesiology from the University of Maine.

Coker was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity where he served as chapter scholarship chair, and as Greek Council secretary.Â
