Josh Adel joined the Stetson Men's Basketball coaching staff in 2026 and serves as an assistant coach under head coach Donnie Jones. Adel arrived in DeLand with nearly two decades of NCAA Division I experience and a résumé that includes stops at Radford, Minnesota, Florida International and Florida. Throughout his career, Adel has contributed in recruiting, player development, scouting, game preparation, video and day-to-day program operations while working within several nationally successful programs. Adel has spent nearly two decades working within NCAA Division I men's basketball programs. His career has included responsibilities across virtually every area of a collegiate program, including recruiting, player development, scouting, video, game preparation and operations. That breadth of experience has allowed Adel to work within multiple program structures and alongside coaches who have competed at the highest levels of college basketball. Immediately before joining Stetson, Adel spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Radford University. The position continued a career spent entirely within Division I basketball and followed an 11-season tenure at the University of Minnesota. His season at Radford added another full-time assistant coaching stop to a résumé built through progressive responsibilities at several established programs. Adel spent 11 seasons at the University of Minnesota and steadily climbed the coaching ladder during his time with the Golden Gophers. He began in program operations before serving as video coordinator and eventually being promoted to assistant coach. Throughout his tenure, Adel played an integral role in recruiting, player development, scouting, game preparation and the day-to-day operation of the program. His time in Minneapolis included multiple postseason appearances and one of the program's most successful stretches of the modern era. Adel was part of the Minnesota staff that captured the 2014 National Invitation Tournament championship. The Golden Gophers also reached the NCAA Tournament in both 2017 and 2019 during his tenure. Those postseason runs gave Adel extensive experience preparing teams for high-level national competition while contributing across scouting, player development and game preparation. Before joining Minnesota, Adel spent the 2012-13 season as video coordinator at Florida International University under head coach Richard Pitino. The position continued Adel's development in scouting, film breakdown and game preparation while adding another Division I program to his early coaching résumé. His season at FIU followed five years at the University of Florida. Adel began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Florida, spending five seasons under Hall of Fame head coach Billy Donovan. He was promoted to head manager in 2009 and was part of a program that consistently competed deep into the postseason. During Adel's time in Gainesville, Florida made three NCAA Tournament appearances, including consecutive Elite Eight runs in 2011 and 2012. The Gators also advanced to the NIT Semifinals in 2008 and the NIT Quarterfinals in 2009. Player development and preparation have been central components of Adel's career. His progressive roles at Minnesota allowed him to contribute across several areas of the program before moving into a full-time assistant coaching position. Adel's experience in video and scouting also provides an extensive background in film study, opponent preparation and translating information into actionable game plans for players and coaches. Adel earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Florida in 2012.
