Travis Sandlant serves as Director of Tennis at Stetson University after building sustained championship success with the Hatters' tennis programs… Originally named head coach of the Stetson Women's Tennis program on Sept. 13, 2016, Sandlant was elevated to oversee both the men's and women's programs following a championship-filled tenure on the women's side. Sandlant enters the 2026-27 season in his 10th year at Stetson… He has guided the Stetson women to an 81-55 dual-match record while compiling a 228-126 career record across 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach. His coaching résumé includes seven conference tournament championships, six NCAA Championship appearances, four regular-season conference titles and four ASUN Coach of the Year awards… Sandlant was also named the 2022 Wilson ITA Southeast Region Coach of the Year. After guiding the Stetson Women's Tennis program to back-to-back ASUN Championships, Sandlant was elevated to Director of Tennis, expanding his leadership across both of the Hatters' tennis programs. The move followed nearly a decade of championship success with the women's program and positioned Sandlant to provide program-wide leadership in recruiting, player development, scheduling and competition. The men's program also made history in 2026, capturing the first ASUN Tournament Championship in program history and earning its first NCAA Tournament appearance. The Hatters entered the ASUN Championship as the No. 3 seed and opened postseason play with a 4-0 victory over Lipscomb… Stetson then defeated No. 2 seed North Alabama, 4-3, in the semifinals to advance to the championship match. Facing top-seeded North Florida in the final, the Hatters earned another 4-3 victory to secure the first conference tournament championship in program history… Christian Kuehne delivered the championship-clinching point. Stetson completed the historic season with a 14-7 record and finished No. 9 in the final ITA Southeast Regional Rankings, making the Hatters the highest-ranked mid-major program in the region. Sandlant's elevation to Director of Tennis followed a highly successful tenure leading Stetson Women's Tennis… He has guided the Hatters to an 81-55 record while developing the program into a consistent championship contender within the ASUN. His tenure has included six winning seasons, three ASUN Tournament Championships, multiple regular-season titles, three NCAA Championship appearances and the first national rankings in program history. The defining breakthrough came in 2022, when Stetson captured its first ASUN Tournament Championship in 33 years and its first ASUN regular-season championship since 1989. The Hatters followed that breakthrough by continuing to compete at the top of the conference, eventually capturing back-to-back ASUN Championships before Sandlant moved into his expanded Director of Tennis role. The 2022 season marked one of the defining campaigns in Stetson Women's Tennis history… Sandlant guided the Hatters to their first ASUN Tournament Championship in 33 years and first ASUN regular-season championship since 1989. Stetson earned the program's first NCAA Division I Championship berth while setting a school record with 22 victories and producing a program-best .916 winning percentage… The 22 wins ranked as the second-highest single-season total by an ASUN team at the time. The Hatters also established a school-record nine-match winning streak and appeared in the ITA National Rankings for the first time in program history. Stetson appeared in the national rankings four times during the season, checking in at No. 62 on Feb. 23, No. 64 on April 27 and No. 61 on May 4 before finishing the season ranked No. 60. Sandlant was named both the ASUN Coach of the Year and Wilson ITA Southeast Region Coach of the Year following the historic campaign. Individual player development has been a consistent part of Sandlant's success at Stetson… His teams have produced numerous All-ASUN selections, conference Players of the Week, All-Freshman honorees, academic award winners and championship performers. During the historic 2022 season, six Hatters combined for 11 postseason conference honors… Nadejda Maslova and Alanna DiFrancesco earned First Team All-ASUN recognition, while Anais Gabriel, Cheri Darley and Noa Cohen were selected Second Team All-ASUN. DiFrancesco and Darley earned All-Freshman honors, Elodie Foster was selected All-Academic and Cohen and Darley earned ASUN All-Tournament recognition… Cohen was also named ASUN Championship MVP. The Hatters earned three ASUN Player of the Week awards during the season, with Maslova receiving the honor twice and Gabriel earning it once. Sandlant quickly established Stetson as a conference contender after arriving in DeLand… In his second season, he guided the Hatters to a 13-8 overall record and a berth in the 2018 ASUN Championship final. Stetson followed with a 12-9 record in 2019 before posting an 8-5 mark during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. Those seasons helped establish the foundation for the championship breakthrough that followed in 2022 and the sustained conference success of Sandlant's tenure. Prior to Stetson, Sandlant spent nine highly successful seasons at East Tennessee State, including six seasons as the Buccaneers' women's head coach. Sandlant guided ETSU to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011, 2014 and 2016 as head coach after also being part of an NCAA Tournament appearance as an assistant coach in 2009. During his tenure, the Buccaneers captured three conference tournament championships and three regular-season titles. Sandlant was named the 2013 ASUN Coach of the Year… He compiled a 147-71 dual-match record during his time with the Buccaneers and helped ETSU reach as high as No. 61 in the ITA national rankings. He coached seven players who earned ITA national individual rankings, including one who climbed as high as No. 51… His teams also earned eight victories over ITA-ranked opponents. Across 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Sandlant has compiled a 228-126 dual-match record while developing championship programs at Stetson and East Tennessee State. His career résumé includes seven conference tournament championships, four regular-season championships, six NCAA Championship appearances, nationally ranked teams and four ASUN Coach of the Year awards. Sandlant's success has extended across both individual and team development, with numerous nationally ranked players and conference award winners competing under his leadership. A native of Werribee, Australia, Sandlant developed as a player at the prestigious Australian Institute of Sport and was an Australian High School champion as a junior. He began his collegiate career at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va., where he became a three-time All-American and two-time Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Sandlant later continued his playing career at East Tennessee State… He helped the Buccaneers capture the 2007 ASUN Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. Sandlant earned both of his degrees from East Tennessee State University… He completed his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2007 before earning his master's degree in sports management in 2009.
