Former Stetson University all-conference point guard and fan favorite Jama Sharp is in her second year as an assistant coach and third year with the Hatters' coaching staff.

Sharp scored over 1000 points and won over 100 games during her illustrious four-year career with the Hatters.  She earned first team all-conference honors in 2014 and 2015 and was selected as one of 30 Senior CLASS Award candidates.

Sharp joined the Hatters after stints on the staffs of the Florida Gators, Texas Longhorns, and Virginia Cavaliers.  She spent the 2018-19 season at Virginia, serving first as Director of Scouting and Video Services and later as Assistant Coach.  In the second role, Sharp helped direct the program’s recruiting efforts, prepared opponent scouting reports, and participated in on-court instruction with the guards.

From 2016-18, Sharp worked with the Texas Longhorns as the Video Coordinator. While there, she oversaw all video operations, including preparing opponent scouts, creating film for individual sessions, and producing team highlight videos.  She also assisted with recruiting and summer camp skill instruction.

Sharp landed her first position with the Florida Gators in 2015-16, serving as the assistant video coordinator.  She was responsible for recording and editing practices and games and creating social media content.

In four seasons with the Hatters, Sharp did not miss a single game, playing in 133 career contests.  She scored 1,261 points, currently the 13th highest total in school history, while recording 441 assists and 241 steals.  Her 167 3-point field goals still rank fourth all-time, and she is one of two players to accumulate over 1000 points, 400 assists and 250 steals.

In addition to her all-conference awards, Sharp was selected to the ASUN All-Academic team, the ASUN all-tournament team, and the ASUN Winners for Life team.  She was named ASUN Player of the Week twice, an ASUN Conference Scholar three times, and landed a spot on the ASUN Honor Roll all four seasons. In addition, Sharp was voted Stetson Athletics’ Female Athlete of the Year in 2015.

Sharp earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Business in 2015.

At Mooresville (Ind.) High School, Sharp set the school’s all-time scoring record and was one of the leading scorers in the state of Indiana as a senior.
