Biography

PRIOR TO STETSON
  • Stegmaier rowed for Lake Braddock Secondary School under coaches Megan Jorgenson and Lilya Fenjiro.
  • She also competed for Resilient Rowing under coach Kristina Mickey.
  • Stegmaier helped her crews capture Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
  • She raced in the stroke seat for the championship-winning Women’s Junior 8+ crew at the 2024 Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship.
  • Stegmaier competed at several premier regattas, including the Head of the Charles, Head of the Hooch, Stotesbury Cup Regatta and SRAA National Championship Cup.
  • At the 2024 Philadelphia Youth Regatta, she helped her Youth Cadet 8+ crew finish first in its flight and second overall.
  • She posted a fourth-place finish in the U19 20-minute race at the 2024 Erg Sprints with a distance of 4,836 meters.
  • At the 2023 Head of the Hooch, Stegmaier helped her Women’s U19 8+ crew place seventh out of 49 entries while also finishing second in the Women’s U17 2-.
  • She also attended the Naval Academy Rowing Camp in 2022.

  • Sal Stegmaier is from Burke, Virginia.
  • She attended Lake Braddock Secondary School.
  • Stegmaier describes herself as a team-oriented athlete who values leadership, organization and motivating teammates on and off the water.
  • She began rowing during her freshman year and quickly developed into a championship-level competitor.
  • Academically, Stegmaier challenged herself with 10 honors classes, an AP course and two dual-enrollment classes during high school.
  • She was also involved in personal fitness training while working toward her strength and conditioning goals.
