Assistant coach Cameron Coons joined the Stetson Baseball staff in August 2024.
In his first season with the Hatters, Coons helped guide Stetson to one of the most successful campaigns in program history. The Hatters captured the 2025 ASUN Conference Tournament championship, set a program record with a 24-6 conference mark, won 40-plus games for the second consecutive season and advanced to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where Stetson opened regional play with a dominant 11-2 victory over NC State and scored 28 runs over three NCAA Tournament games.
Working primarily with the Hatters' position players, Coons has coached five All-ASUN selections during his time in DeLand, including 2025 First Team All-ASUN selection Lorenzo Meola; 2025 Second Team honorees Juan De La Cruz, Isaiah Barkett and Jordan Taylor; and 2026 Third Team All-ASUN selection Yohann Dessureault. Meola was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants, while Barkett later joined the former, after being selected by the Giants in the 10th round.
Coons came to Stetson after spending the 2024 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Queens, where he helped lead the Royals in their second season of Division I competition.
Prior to Queens, Coons spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Marshall University, where he oversaw player skill development through the implementation of biomechanical and analytical technologies. During his tenure, he helped develop First Team All-Conference USA selection Luke Edwards as well as Johnny Bench Award Watch List catcher Ryan Leitch, who later signed with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Before Marshall, Coons served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Snead State Community College in Alabama. His 2022 recruiting class helped produce a school-record season that culminated in Snead State's first Alabama state championship and its first appearance in the NJCAA World Series. The previous season, the Parsons captured the ACCC North Division regular-season championship, with two players earning First Team All-Region honors. Coons was recognized as the 2021 Alabama Junior College Assistant Coach of the Year.
