Kyle Wallace joined the Stetson Football coaching staff in 2025 and currently serves as Secondary Coach and Safeties Coach… A former collegiate defensive back, Wallace brings coaching experience from the FBS, NCAA Division III and NAIA levels to the Hatters' defensive staff. Wallace came to DeLand after spending the 2024 season at Jacksonville State… His coaching background also includes previous stops at Bethel University, Massachusetts Maritime Academy and SUNY Cortland. After working with Stetson's cornerbacks during his first season, Wallace's responsibilities expanded to include the secondary and safeties as he continued developing the back end of the Hatters' defense. At Stetson, Wallace oversees the secondary while working directly with the Hatters' safeties… His experience playing and coaching in the defensive backfield provides a foundation for developing technique, coverage responsibilities and communication throughout the back end of the defense. Wallace's current role expands upon his work with Stetson's cornerbacks during the 2025 season, giving him experience developing multiple positions throughout the secondary. Working alongside defensive coordinator Dustin Kincaid, Wallace contributes to a defensive system focused on limiting explosive plays, creating turnovers and making offenses work through tight coverage. Stetson's secondary delivered a strong performance in the 2026 home opener as the Hatters defeated Webber International, 45-10, at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium. The Hatters limited Webber International to only 46 passing yards and 185 yards of total offense… Stetson kept the Warriors scoreless through the first three quarters while recording an interception and a sack. Defensive back Dylan Kelly recorded an interception as the Hatters controlled Webber's passing attack throughout the afternoon. Developing defensive backs has been a consistent part of Wallace's coaching career… His experience includes working specifically with cornerbacks, safeties and complete defensive back units at multiple collegiate programs. At Stetson, Wallace's responsibilities have grown from coaching the cornerbacks to overseeing the secondary and safeties. His playing background in the defensive backfield provides additional perspective when teaching technique, route recognition, leverage, communication and coverage responsibilities within the Hatters' defensive system. Before joining Stetson, Wallace spent the 2024 season at Jacksonville State. The opportunity added FBS coaching experience to his résumé before he reunited with head coach Mike Jasper in DeLand. His season at Jacksonville State followed two years working on Jasper's staff at Bethel University. Wallace spent two seasons on the Bethel University coaching staff under Jasper before moving to Jacksonville State. The stop represented a return to Wallace's alma mater after previously competing for the Wildcats as a defensive back. His familiarity with the program and experience as both a Bethel player and coach provided another stage in his development before moving into FBS football and eventually joining Stetson. Wallace began his collegiate coaching career at SUNY Cortland in 2021, serving as a graduate assistant and working specifically with the Red Dragons' cornerbacks. He continued developing defensive backs during the 2022 season at Massachusetts Maritime Academy before returning to Bethel. Those experiences established a coaching career that has remained closely connected to secondary development. Wallace joined SUNY Cortland's coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2021 and worked with the cornerbacks. Along with his coaching responsibilities, Wallace pursued his master's degree in sport management at Cortland. The opportunity represented one of Wallace's first collegiate coaching positions and helped establish his path as a defensive backs coach. Wallace continued his coaching career at Massachusetts Maritime Academy during the 2022 season. Working with the defensive backs, he continued gaining experience developing the secondary before returning to his alma mater at Bethel. Before entering coaching, Wallace played defensive back at Bethel University. He was part of the Wildcats' 2018 Mid-South Conference Championship team, gaining championship experience as a student-athlete before eventually returning to Bethel as a coach. Wallace earned his bachelor's degree from Bethel in 2019. Wallace began his collegiate playing career at Austin Peay before continuing his career at Bethel University. His experience at both programs eventually led Wallace into coaching, where he has continued working primarily with defensive backs. Wallace earned his bachelor's degree in fitness and wellness promotion from Bethel University in 2019. He later earned his master's degree in sport management from SUNY Cortland in 2022.
