Michael started at Stetson in August 2024 as the Associate AD of Business Operations/CFO. Boele brings in over 23 years of athletics experience and previously assisted Stetson with her consulting company Boele Consulting.
Boele has already accrued a decorated résumé in the world of college athletics, having served at five different Division I institutions and in three senior level positions at the University of California - Riverside, Fresno State University and most recently at the University of North Florida.
At North Florida, Boele was a part of the administrative team and oversaw all of the athletic department finances. Michael also oversaw the beach volleyball and softball programs.
Boele is the owner and CEO of Boele Consulting out of Ormond Beach, Fla., where she is involved in financial reporting, developing program assessments and planning and implementing special events for NCAA institutions.
Boele spent six-plus years in Riverside, Calif., where she held a pair of senior-level positions. During her first three years, Boele served as the Highlanders' Senior Associate AD for Administration and CFAO. In 2018 she added the role senior woman administrator, a role she in which she was charged with Title IX compliance, gender equity and roster management. Boele managed the Riverside budget and finances through the COVID-19 pandemic and also implemented other programming during that time. Her duties also included, but were not limited, to serving as the sport administrator for multiple programs. A two-year stint further up north in California in "The Valley" at Fresno State saw Boele manage a 30-million dollar budget, while also holding nearly identical responsibilities as her position featured at Riverside.
Bookending the better part of a decade in California was her position at Florida Atlantic University as Associate Athletics Director of Business and Finance. From 2007-13, Boele acted as a member of the senior staff leadership team and sport supervisor for eight different programs. She helped manage a $26 million budget for the Owls, including opening an on-campus football stadium, and had oversight of all internal, external and state audits. From 2001-07, Boele was the athletics business manager at North Florida, serving during a key period in the history of UNF athletics as a member of the strategic planning committee for the institution's transition from Division II to Division I.
Her lone stint in a non-coastal state was her start in collegiate athletics from 1998-2001 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. There, Boele worked as the ticket manager and athletic business manager. Boele has served on three Division I conference committees, multiple championship host site operations and served as president of the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA). A member of CABMA, the Minority Opportunities Athletics Association (MOAA), Women Leaders Sports (
WLS) and the National Associate of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). In 2019 and 2021, Boele was named a CABMA Manager of the Year Finalist.
Boele is a graduate of the University of Florida. Michael and her husband Gerrit have two sons, Jacob and Josh.
