Mario Cayo Earns A-Sun Player of the Week

DeLand, Fla. --?Mario Cayo (Lima, Peru) led Stetson men's tennis with a 4-0 mark last week to be named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week by the league office.

The senior was undefeated last week with a 2-0 singles mark and 2-0 doubles mark.

Cayo helped the Hatters to a 5-2 win in?its A-Sun opener against Florida Atlantic on Saturday, taking a 6-3, 6-2 singles win against Mauricio Paiz.?He also teamed up with fellow senior Birger Soiland to knock off Paiz and Gianfranco Dossena, 8-4.

Cayo earned singles win against Florida Tech on Sunday, who is ranked 40th in the nation?among Division II teams, defeating Diego Quiros, 6-2, 6-2. He and Soiland downed Jeremy Casperson and Christian Keiber, 8-3.

Stetson is in action against Saturday as it continues league play and hosts UNF at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
