Hatters Sign Sherrel Fountain

DeLand, Fla. '?Stetson softball head coach?Frank Griffin?recently announced the signing of Sherrel Fountain to a National Letter-of-Intent.

"Sherrel is going to bring a lot of positive things to our program because she is so well-rounded," said?Griffin.?"She is a good defensive player with a lot of speed and is also quick offensively.?While she can bunt and slap,?she?will also be a base-stealing threat."

Fountain, a native of Nassau, Bahamas, is a 2003 graduate of James S. Rickards High School in Tallahassee and joins the Hatters as a junior after a two-year stint at St.Petersburg College. ?
The 5-6 outfielder was an academic all-conference and all-state performer at St. Petersburg. In high school, Fountain graduated with honors, earned All-Big Bend honors, and was a two-time team MVP.

"Sherrel is a great athlete but is also very focused on her academics which is why she chose Stetson," said Griffin. "It is great to see a young person with her priorities so in tact."
