The Stetson women's soccer team clinched the #2 seed in November's Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and perhaps a share of the regular season title with a 2-1 win at Jacksonville University Saturday night. The Hatters are assured of a first round bye in the tournament and would share the regular season title with Kennesaw State if the Owls lose Sunday.
Junior Kelsey Kramer scored the eventual winning goal with just over 11 minutes left in the first half. Her header off a corner kick from Christina Lovejoy gave the Hatters the 2-1 advantage. The goal for Kramer was her third of the year.
Stetson had to play catch-up after falling behind less than nine minutes into the game. JU's Jenny Borschel headed in a corner kick to give the Dolphins an early lead.
However, Junior Jessica Spencer put the equalizer past the right post on a one-on-one at the 27:11 mark. It was the third goal of the year for Spencer.
Goalkeeper April Eilering made three saves and allowed just the one first-half goal. She has spent every minute of the conference season in net for Stetson.
Stetson's 7-1-1 record in the Atlantic Sun is the best conference record in team history. The Hatters will finish the regular season with a non-conference battle against Embry-Riddle on Senior Day, Sunday October 29th at 6:00 PM.
