Gainesville, Fla. - Florida softball edged Stetson Tuesday evening in both teams' season finale at the Florida Softball Stadium.

Stacie Pestrak singled to left center to score pinch runner Alicia Spack from second base to give the Gators (42-22) the 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Freshman Erica Demers (Miami, Fla.) suffered just her fifth loss of the season allowing one earned run off two hits while striking out four batters.

Stacey Stevens earned the win in the circle for Florida allowing four hits and walking two batters in four innings.

The top-seeded Hatters (41-14) compete next at the 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship and will face sixth seed Gardner-Webb in the first round in Boca Raton, Fla., Thursday at 1 p.m.
