Jacksonville, Fla. — The ASUN Conference announced its weekly softball honors Monday, with Stetson's
Irianis Garcia earning Player of the Week and
Ava Braswell being named Pitcher of the Week.
Garcia had a tremendous week at the plate, collecting nine hits in 13 at-bats, including three doubles and a home run, while drawing four walks. She posted a .692 batting average, .765 on-base percentage, and a 1.154 slugging percentage, driving in three runs and scoring six times.
Garcia opened the week by going 2-for-4 against Florida with two doubles and two runs scored. She followed with a three-hit performance in the first game of a doubleheader, highlighted by a home run, three RBIs, and a walk. In the second game, she went a perfect 4-for-4 with another walk, then capped the weekend by going 1-for-2 with two walks. Garcia is now riding a six-game hitting streak, including four multi-hit performances.
Braswell was stellar in the circle, going 1–1 across three appearances, with her only loss coming against Florida. She posted a 1.50 ERA over 9.1 innings, including a complete game, allowing just two earned runs on five hits while striking out five. In her start against West Georgia, Braswell tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four batters. She also held opponents to a .143 batting average.
Softball America and D1Softball also released their mid-major rankings Monday, with the Hatters moving up one spot in each poll. Stetson now sits at No. 16 in the D1Softball rankings and No. 19 in the Softball America poll.
Stetson is now 25–15 overall and 10–2 in conference play in what has been a record-breaking season. The Hatters have already set new program records for single-season home runs and grand slams, with more milestones still within reach.
Stetson returns to action Saturday, April 11, opening a weekend series against North Florida. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
