St. Augustine, Fla. -- Flagler College continues their win streak, beating Stetson 3-1 this evening at Flagler Gym. The Hatters are now 5-10 on the season.
Flagler won in four games, 30-19, 25-30, 30-20, 30-27, handing Stetson its 10th loss of the season and its first loss to Flagler since 2004.
Beth Slabaugh led Stetson (5-10) with 13 kills. Rebecca Orzechowicz recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs for the Hatters while Fleming added 11 kills. Karla Readshaw tallied a match-high 42 assists.
Katie Beale would lead the way for the Saints recording her 10th double-double of the season, with 14 kills and 20 digs.
The Saints took the first game easily, but the second game the Hatters made a comeback after scoring seven straight point to take the lead 22-18 and eventually winning the game 30-25. The Hatters gave up an easy third game but made a strong rally, with an ace by Liz Gorski, to tie the third game at 21. The Saints fought back strong though, taking the lead and winning the game 30-27.
Stetson plays again Friday, September 29 at 7:00 pm against conference opponent Belmont. This will be the Hatters first home conference game of the season.
