Women?s Golf Wins Treasure Coast Women?s Classic and Sets School Records

Ft. Pierce, Fla. ? The Stetson women's golf team set new records and finished in first place with a three round total of 887, at the Treasure Coast Women's Classic that ended play on Friday. 

 

As a team, the women set a new team low round record with their first and third round score of 294.  Team members included freshman Lauren Darnell (Gainesville, Fla.), freshman Danielle Jackson (Seminole, Fla.), senior Ainsley Wellinghoff (Champaign, Ill.), freshman Lauren Bryan (Valparaiso, Ind.) and junior Meagan Carlucci (Southlake, Texas).

 

The three round total for Stetson of 887 set a new team record for low three round tournament.  The previous record of 925 was set in 2000 at the Cougar Golf Fall Invitational.  As a team, the Hatters average score was 304.7, setting a new record for low tournament average at Stetson.  The previous average was 308.3 set once again during the 2000 Cougar Golf Fall Invitational.

 

Stetson was led by freshman Lauren Darnell finishing first overall.  Darnell carded a 70, 71, 71 to finish with a three round total of 212 (-1). Darnell's second and third round scores of 71 put her in second place for Stetson player low round scores.

                                                              

Stetson freshman Danielle Jackson posted a record setting first round low of 69.  Jackson now stands in first place for individual low single round records at Stetson.  The previous record stood at 71 since the fall of the 1995 season. Jackson finished the tournament in third place with a 225 (69, 75, 71).

 

Both Lauren Darnell and Danielle Jackson broke records for their overall performance.  Darnell moves into first place in the record books with a low three round total of 212 and Jackson follows, sitting in second place in the record books with a low three round total of 214.

 

Senior Ainsley Wellinghoff finished the tournament in the top ten, finishing in a three-way tie for 10th place.  Wellinghoff shot a three day total of 228 (78, 74, 76).  Freshman Lauren Bryan took 18th, recording a 235 (77, 79, 79) and junior Meagan Carlucci rounded out the Stetson team coming in with a 242 total to place in a two-way tie for 23rd. 

 

The women's golf team plays again on Wednesday, March 14 through Friday, March 16 in Tampa, Florida.
