DeLand, Fla. - Seven different Hatters drove in runs as Stetson completed a two-game sweep of Quinnipiac with a 13-5 win Tuesday night at Melching Field.Â
Â
The Hatters (15-6) strung together seven consecutive hits on the way to six runs in the seventh to put the game away. Quinnipiac (2-4) had taken a 2-0 lead before Stetson rallied for a 5-2 advantage. The Bobcats clawed back to within a run when the Hatters erupted in the seventh.Â
Â
Shane Jordan started off the big seventh with a single to center. After Adam Tindle doubled, Braedyn Pruitt drove home Jordan with a single. That prompted a pitching change and Justin Bass greeted Tyler Brett with an RBI single. Aaron Crittenden doubled in another run and Brian Pruitt and Jeremy Cruz delivered back-to-back RBI singles for the sixth and seventh consecutive hits.Â
Â
Andy Mauldin (1-0) earned the win in his first start of the year. The right-hander went 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with no walks and two strikeouts.Â
Â
Crittenden finished 4-for-4 with 2 RBI. Braedyn Pruitt, Bass and Cruz each tallied three hits.Â
Â
A sacrifice fly from Justin Bass put Stetson a head 3-2 in the third. Braedyn Pruitt provided a run-scoring single earlier in the inning and Josh Clendenin drove in the Hatters first run in the second.Â
Â
The Hatters picked up a couple of insurance runs in the eighth thanks to a double from Bass and a sacrifice fly to the wall in center from Crittenden.Â
Â
Stetson's 18 hits were their second-highest total in a single game this year. Every Hatter in the starting lineup had at least one hit and seven of the nine scored.Â
Â
The Hatters will take two days off before beginning conference play Friday night at North Florida.Â
