Hatters Go Deep, Win Big at UNF

Jacksonville, Fla. - Stetson's most prolific home run binge in two years launched the Hatters to a 12-2 victory over North Florida Saturday afternoon at Harmon Field.  Braedyn Pruitt connected on two long balls with Justin Bass and Aaron Crittenden also going deep.

The Hatters (17-6) pounded out 15 hits and scored in five of the first seven innings against UNF (9-14).  Starter Chris Ingoglia (3-2) turned in a 9-inning, complete-game victory ? the first for Stetson since the championship game of the A-Sun Tournament last year.  The senior southpaw allowed just two runs on six hits and did not allow a hit after the sixth inning.

Pruitt led the charge with four RBI, four runs scored and the two home runs that doubled his season total.  Bass, Crittenden and Adam Tindle added multi-RBI games.  Crittenden put in a three-hit afternoon.

Stetson got started early when Pruitt lined a two-run homer over the right-field fence in the first inning.  Bass connected on a two-run shot in the third, his second home run of the season.  A triple from Adam Tindle in the fourth highlighted a three-run inning to put the Hatters up 7-1.

In the sixth, Pruitt launched a towering home run that landed high and deep in the top of the trees beyond right field.  One out later Crittenden's long fly caromed off the foul pole over the fence and in fair territory for the second home run the freshman has hit in 2007.

Three more runs came in during the seventh on two walks, two hits, and two errors.

The Hatters will conclude the series in Jacksonville with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch Sunday afternoon.
