Jacksonville, Fla. -  Stetson took advantage of two late inning errors to tame Jacksonville 6-3 Saturday afternoon at Alexander Brest Field. The Hatters (31-11, 14-3 A-Sun) evened up the series with JU (24-19, 9-8 A-Sun), setting the stage for the rubber match on Sunday. Â
After JU starter Matt Gardner (5-3) blanked the Hatters for six innings, Justin Bass sparked a three-run frame with a leadoff single in the seventh. Brian Pruitt then walked and Jeremy Cruz put down a bunt that Gardner threw into right field. That plated Bass and ended Gardner's afternoon.Â
Â
Josh Clendenin greeted reliever Carson Andrew with a sacrifice fly to center and Erich Holland's ground out to short put Stetson on top 3-2.Â
Â
Chris Ingoglia (8-2) overcame a season-high six walks to tie for the team lead in wins. The left-hander allowed just three hits and two runs to win his sixth consecutive start.Â
Â
The Hatters expanded the lead in the eighth. Shane Jordan led off with a base hit and Casey Frawley followed with a bunt single. One out later Bass drew an intentional walk to load the bases. Aaron Crittenden then chopped a high bouncer to third that Chuck Opachich shot-gunned into right field. That cleared the bases and gave Stetson a 6-2 cushion.Â
Â
Jacksonville picked up a run in the first inning when Ryan McArdle drew a bases-loaded walk from Ingoglia. Their only other run off Ingoglia came in the third when Mike McAllister cracked a two-out solo home run, his fourth of the year.
Â
Jordan, Frawley, and Holland each rapped out two hits for Stetson. Bass scored twice and went 1-for-3. Robbie Elsemiller threw two innings to close out the victory in a non-save situation.
Â
The series concludes Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch at Alexander Brest Field in Jacksonville.Â
