Orlando, Fla. - The Stetson baseball team returned to the field and to the win column with a 10-7 victory Wednesday night at the University of Central Florida. Justin Bass and Aaron Crittenden each drove in two runs to lead the Hatters (33-12) past the Knights (22-24) in Stetson's first game since last Wednesday.
Brian Pruitt's eighth-inning three-run home run iced the Hatter win. It was Pruitt's fourth home run of the year and was a towering shot over the left field fence put the Hatters on top 10-4.Â

Justin Dechert (5-2) overcame a shaky first inning to get the win in his first start since March 24. The freshman went six innings, allowing four runs (three in the first) on seven hits. Â

Aaron Crittenden gave Stetson a 1-0 lead in the first inning. His line drive single to center scored Casey Frawley but Tyson Auer's throw home beat Justin Bass for the final out.Â

That defensive play segued into offensive heroics for Auer. He doubled down the right field line to score two runs in the bottom of the first then scored on a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead. Â

Bass tied it for Stetson in the third. His second hit of the day drove in Frawley and Shane Jordan to knot the score at three. For Bass, it was his 10th multi-game in the last 13 contests.Â

Stetson regained the lead in the fifth inning. Braedyn Pruitt and Justin Bass drew back-to-back walks to lead off the inning. Crittenden singled in Pruitt and Bass came home on a wild pitch. Josh Clendenin brought home Crittenden with a single to right field and Jeremy Cruz also scored in the inning on an error to give Stetson a 7-3 lead.

UCF picked up a run in the fifth after Matt Horwath's third hit ? and second double. Auer brought him in with a sacrifice fly.Â

Trailing 10-4 after Pruitt's blast, UCF made a last run at the Hatters in the bottom of the eighth. The Knights began the inning with three straight hits, including an RBI single from Ryan Richardson, who ended the evening with three hits. Chadd Hartman and pinch-hitter Shane Brown also drove in runs with base hits to pull UCF within 10-7.Â

For Stetson, Jordan reached base five times on two singles and three walks. Bass added three hits, two runs, and two RBI. In April and May combined, Bass is batting .519 (28-for-54) with 21 runs scored and 15 RBI in 13 games.Â

The Hatters return home to face conference foe East Tennessee State Friday night at 7:00 p.m.Â
