DeLand, Fla. - For the seventh time in the last eight years, the Stetson University baseball team is going to the NCAA Tournament. The Hatters were announced on Monday as the No. 3 seed in the Tallahassee, Fla. Regional and will face No. 2 Mississippi State. Host Florida State is the No. 1 seed in the Regional and No. 6 seed nationally. No. 4 seed Bethune-Cookman rounds out the Tallahassee bracket.Â
Â
The Hatters (41-19) won the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season title with a 21-6 record and reached the semifinals of the conference tournament. Stetson's strong non-conference showing and lofty RPI aided in securing the program's first at-large bid since 2003.Â
Â
Stetson has been to five other Regionals in Tallahassee (1984, 1988, 1989, 1992, 2002) but this will be the Hatters first ever meeting with Mississippi State.  The Bulldogs went 33-20 overall and 15-13 in the SEC. Stetson and Mississippi State will kick off the Regional with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch on Friday.
Â
Florida State is 3-2 against the Hatters in post-season play. The schools last met in 2005, with the 11th-ranked Seminoles taking all four meetings.Â
Â
Bethune-Cookman and Stetson have a lengthy history but though they have played 65 times, the two schools have never met in the post-season. Stetson is 55-10 lifetime against the Wildcats.Â
Â
The Regional begins Friday June 1 and runs through Monday June 4 at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium.Â
