DeLand, Fla. ? Visiting Lipscomb, the defending Atlantic Sun Tournament champions, held the Stetson volleyball team (2-17, 0-12 Atlantic Sun) to a .046 team attack percentage as the Lady Bisons (13-8, 10-1 A-Sun) swept the Hatters Saturday at the Edmunds Center. Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) led Stetson with six kills.
The Hatters could not take advantage of early leads in two of the three sets as Lipscomb's extended runs through the middle of each set allowed the visitors to cruise to a sweep.
Ream had six kills and a team-high .286 attack percentage while freshman setter Jennica Hagberg (Niceville, Fla.) handed out 11 assists. Senior outside hitter Rebecca Orzechowicz (Miami, Fla.) collected nine digs to increase her career total to 968. She continues to approach the milestone of becoming just the fifth player in Stetson history to accumulate 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
Alex Kelly had a double-double for Lipscomb with 11 kills and 11 digs while Katie Bradley led all players in the match with her 12 kills. Setter Stefine Pease recorded 34 assists, seven digs, four blocks and two aces.
The Hatters suffered their eighth consecutive loss and will look to get back in the win column next weekend when they travel to league rivals USC Upstate and ETSU. Stetson takes on USC Upstate Friday in Spartanburg, S.C. at 7 p.m. before heading to Johnson City to face the Lady Bucs the next day at 3 p.m.
