DeLand, Fla. ? Kennesaw State ruined the Stetson volleyball team's (4-20, 1-15 Atlantic Sun) senior night, sweeping the Hatters 28-26, 25-19, 25-23 Saturday evening at the Edmunds Center. Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Ream paced Stetson with a 13-kill, 14-dig double-double.
Freshman setter Jennica Hagberg handed out 33 assists and collected 10 digs, one of four Hatters to reach double-figure dig totals. Senior outside hitter Rebecca Orzechowicz (Miami, Fla.) had a team-high 19 digs along with eight kills while senior libero Melanie Boyer picked up 11 digs. Junior middle blocker Laura Boyd (La Cresecenta, Calif.) earned eight kills.
The Owls, who improved to 6-19 overall, 5-11 Atlantic Sun, were led by Asjia Stokes' 11 kills and the 19-assist, 13-dig double-double from Rachael Albright. The Owls rallied from a 23-19 deficit in the first set to extend it into extra points where they emerged victorious 28-26 and then were never seriously threatened in a sweep victory.
The Hatters conclude their home schedule Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against defending A-Sun regular season champions Florida Gulf Coast. The Eagles come into the match in first place in the league again; the match will be webcast through Hatter Vision with Bill Topping on the call for the final time this season.
