Buies Creek, N.C. ? The Stetson volleyball team (4-22, 1-17 Atlantic Sun) saw its postseason hopes come to an end after being swept on the road by conference rival Campbell on Saturday. The Camels (7-20, 5-13 A-Sun) clinched the sixth and final berth in the A-Sun tournament with the 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 victory. Senior outside hitter Rebecca Orzechowicz (Miami, Fla.) led the Hatters with nine kills and 11 digs.
Stetson did not help itself with 27 hitting errors but the Camels were simply too strong on this day, hitting .311 as a team and collecting nine blocks. Campbell hitter Emily Werner racked up 16 kills without an error en route to a match-high .457 attack percentage.
Freshman setter Jennica Hagberg (Niceville, Fla.) recorded 28 assists and six digs while junior Anna Becker (McLean, Ill.) came up with 11 digs. Ashley Weers had 11 kills, Hope Leatigaga collected 34 assists and seven digs and Elisabeth Ennis notched 19 digs for Campbell.
The Hatters wrap up the 2008 season next weekend when they visit Jacksonville Friday at 7 p.m. and North Florida on Saturday at 3 p.m.
