Boca Raton, Fla. ? The Stetson softball team (10-7) once again struggled offensively on the road, suffering a 2-0 one-hit shutout loss at the hands of host Florida Atlantic (7-9) and pitcher Rose Gressley.  Sophomore pitcher Amanda Lindsey (Byhalia, Miss.) saved the Hatters from being no-hit for the second time this season with a double in the seventh inning.

FAU left fielder Lauren Crandall drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie and bring in right fielder Becky Brandies with an unearned run.  Brandies had reached on a Stetson error.  The Owls, who despite a losing record are receiving votes in this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, added an insurance run in the fifth on an RBI single off the bat of first baseman Melissa Moore.

As has been the case multiple times this season, Lindsey threw an excellent game but was saddled with a loss nevertheless.  She threw four hitless innings, striking out five and allowing just the one unearned run.  Junior Erica Demers (Miami, Fla.), allowed one run on two hits and a walk in two innings of relief.  She struck out one.

Gressley struck out seven en route to the one-hitter, although Stetson had its chances to score, drawing four walks off the Owl freshman hurler.

The Hatters return home this weekend to host the Stetson Invitational against Albany, Maine and Western Michigan.  The Albany Great Danes have advanced to three consecutive NCAA regionals as America East conference champions.  Stetson faces Maine at 4 p.m. Friday and Western Michigan at 6:30.
