Migliori Named First Team All-Conference; A-Sun Tournament Begins Tomorrow At Patricia Wilson Field

DeLand, Fla. ? Stetson junior first baseman Andrea Migliori (Winter Garden, Fla.) has been named to the Atlantic Sun Softball All-Conference First Team, the league office announced Wednesday.  Migliori batted .354 with school record figures of 20 home runs and 65 RBI in the regular season.  Her selection extends Stetson's streak of having a First Team player to nine consecutive years.

Migliori ranks fifth in the nation in home runs and leads all national underclassmen.  The Hatter slugger also leads the team with 13 doubles, has walked 39 times and has recorded an imposing 1.204 OPS (on-base pct. + slugging pct.) with a .741 slugging percentage and .463 on-base percentage.

The 29th First Team All-Atlantic Sun player in school history, she joins a long list of 21st century honorees that includes Tiffany Tolleson (2000-01), Wendy Smith (2000), Kelli Lightner (2001), Sabrina Isley (2002), Holly Burris (2002), Jennifer Buckley (2003), Blake Hoorelbeke (2004), Shawna Wiggs (2005-06), Melissa Wiggins (2005-06), Brittani Houghton (2005), Sherrel Fountain (2007) and her current Hatter teammate Erica Demers (2006).

A two-time Atlantic Sun Player of the Week selection this season, Migliori earned Second Team All-Conference and A-Sun All-Tournament honors in 2007.  As a freshman in 2006, she was the Atlantic Sun Tournament Most Valuable Player as well as an All-Freshman Team pick.

The Atlantic Sun Conference tournament returns to Patricia Wilson Field for the second consecutive year; the event runs Thurs.-Sat., May 8-10.  Defending A-Sun Tournament champions Stetson (41-22, 13-8 A-Sun) is the #2 seed and will open play at 1 p.m. Thursday against fifth-seeded Campbell.  The Hatters and Camels split a doubleheader at Patricia Wilson Field on March 22.  Third-seeded Mercer and fourth-seeded ETSU open the tournament at 9 a.m. while regular season tri-champions and top seed Lipscomb meets #6 seed Gardner-Webb at 11 a.m.

Each team will play a second game later in the day; if the Hatters beat Campbell they take on the Mercer/ETSU winner at 8 p.m. while if they should lose their opener then they will face the Lipscomb/GWU loser in an elimination game at 4 p.m.  Stetson lost its only meeting with Mercer this season, split at ETSU and Lipscomb and swept a doubleheader at Gardner-Webb.

Live stats are available through www.gohatters.com, the official online home of Stetson Athletics.  Jamie Bataille, the Voice of Hatter Fastpitch, will broadcast every game in the quest for the championship live on A-Sun.TV.
