Nashville, Tenn. - The Stetson volleyball team (1-21, 0-15 Atlantic Sun) proved no match for unbeaten league-leading Lipscomb (20-3, 15-0 A-Sun) at Allen Arena Saturday afternoon, falling 25-10, 25-12, 25-11. Senior right side Sarah Sears (Ashburn, Va.) and junior outside hitter Stephanie Canfield (Panama City, Fla.) notched five kills each to lead the Hatters, who only had the lead once in the entire match. Senior libero Anna Becker (McLean, Ill.) topped the defensive charts for Stetson with 14 digs.
Lipscomb proved all afternoon how it has ripped through the first 3/4ths of the conference season unbeaten, out-killing the Hatters 47-18 and out-hitting them .404 to .044. Reigning A-Sun Player of the Year Alex Kelly ripped off 17 kills and 16 digs to lead the Lady Bisons while Meghan Hinemeyer added 10 kills and six digs. Jake Pease handed out 32 assists and collected eight digs.
Playing for the second straight match without usual setter Kelli Carneal, junior Megan Stewart (St. Augustine, Fla.) did her best to fill in with nine assists while Sears recorded six helpers of her own. Freshman defensive specialist Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) had a solid match on the defensive side of things with 10 digs.
