DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson volleyball team (1-27, 0-20 Atlantic Sun) completed a long and disappointing season on Saturday afternoon with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 loss to visiting USC Upstate (8-22, 4-16 A-Sun) at the Edmunds Center. The loss left the Hatters heading into the off-season with a program-record 14-match losing streak as well as the lowest final winning percentage ever recorded by an Atlantic Sun conference volleyball squad (.036).
Senior Anna Becker (McLean, Ill.) switched to outside hitter for her final career match, notching a team-high seven kills. Freshman right side Madison Anderson (La Cañada, Calif.) put down six errorless kills and hit .353. Junior setter Megan Stewart (St. Augustine, Fla.) set career highs with 22 assists, six kills and a .455 attack percentage. Freshman libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) recorded seven digs.
Morgan Thomas, Erin Jacobsen and Kelsie Queen all tallied 10 kills to lead the Spartans to the victory. Morgan Bucciferro handed out 33 assists while Emily Sanders had 14 helpers; Megan Healey led the defensive efforts with 14 digs.
In addition to the winless conference campaign, the Hatters completed their second consecutive season without winning an A-Sun match at the Edmunds Center. Stetson has lost 24 consecutive A-Sun tilts with the last win coming September 22, 2007 against Gardner-Webb.
