Buies Creek, N.C. - Junior outside hitter Stephanie Canfield (Panama City, Fla.) tied her season high with 11 kills and freshman setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) contributed 26 assists and eight digs, but the Stetson volleyball team (0-9, 0-3 Atlantic Sun) was still swept by A-Sun rival Campbell 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 at Gore Arena on Saturday. The Hatters tied a dubious school record this afternoon with their sixth consecutive shutout loss.
Stetson recorded a .216 attack percentage, its second highest mark in that category this season, but allowed Campbell to hit .392 and dominate the match from start to finish. Canfield hit .308 for Stetson's highest individual attack percentage and also collected five digs. Sophomore outside hitter Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) totaled seven kills and seven digs while junior right side Brandy Worlton (Crystal River, Fla.) smacked five kills with no errors in her return to her former home court. Worlton played her first two collegiate seasons for the Camels.
Allyson Goldbach paced Campbell to the victory with 13 kills, 12 digs and four service aces; Caitlin Bendy hit a whopping .818 with nine kills. Hope Leatigaga, the CU setter, notched 35 assists and 10 digs while Sarah Hill came up with a match-high 16 digs.
Stetson returns home for a pair of conference matches next weekend against the best the A-Sun has to offer. Preseason title pick Lipscomb invade the Edmunds Center for a 6 p.m. Friday match while the Hatters host defending conference champions Belmont at 3 p.m. Saturday.
