DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson volleyball team (0-10, 0-4 Atlantic Sun) set a program record it would have rather avoided Friday evening with its seventh consecutive shutout loss as it fell 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 to visiting Lipscomb (7-3, 4-0 A-Sun) at the Edmunds Center. Sophomore outside hitter Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) notched seven kills and junior setter Megan Stewart (St. Augustine, Fla.) reached a career high with seven digs.
League-leading Lipscomb dominated all facets of the match, out-killing the Hatters 50-21 and out-hitting the home team at a .371 to .125 clip. Preseason A-Sun Player of the Year and 2008 A-Sun Player of the Year Alex Kelly led the charge with a 16-kill, 11-dig double-double while Meghan Hinemeyer added 13 kills and hit .522 in the match. Lady Bisons setter Jake Pease handed out 44 assists. Katie Rose had a match-high 12 digs.
Ream added four digs to go with her seven kills while senior middle blocker Laura Boyd (La Crescenta, Calif.) scored four errorless kills and hit .444. Freshman setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) put up 18 assists, seven digs and three kills for the Hatters.
