Winter Park, Fla. - The Stetson Men's soccer team traveled to Winter Park Wednesday for stage two of its preseason preparation. For the second consecutive exhibition game the Hatters took advantage of the opportunity to play in a game-type atmosphere and then came away with a tie.
Stetson and Embry-Riddle each scored a pair of goals Saturday in Daytona Beach, and tonight the Hatters played even at Rollins College with each team tallying one goal.
The Tars' Joris Combe scored in the 60th minute and Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason Player of the Year Fredrik Brustad answered with a goal in the 88th minute.
Stetson's final preseason game will be played this Friday night, August 27 at 7:00 pm. The Hatters will host Florida Tech at the Stetson Soccer Complex. Although a final dress rehearsal to the 2010 season, the game will be played as if it were a regular season game. Stetson fans are encouraged to come out and see the team in action. Former Stetson head coach Gil Dominguez will be honored prior to the first whistle.
The 2010 season will kick off at home on Wednesday, September 1 at 7:00 p.m. versus Johnson & Wales. In the recent Atlantic Sun Conference Coaches' Poll the 2009 A-Sun Champion Hatters were picked to come out on top in the 2010 regular season, as well as repeat as league tournament champions.
