Baseball Signs McCormick for 2012

DeLand, Fla. - Stetson head coach Pete Dunn has announced that Darby McCormick has signed to play baseball for the Hatters in 2012. McCormick is a 6-1, 185 athlete from Gulf Coast High School who can play multiple positions. He will be the fifth Hatter on the roster who hails from Naples, Florida.

"We are so very excited to have Darby become a part of the program next fall.  He is a very athletic, versatile young man who fits perfectly into this recruiting class", said Dunn.  "He runs well, swings the bat very well from the left side and can play infield, outfield and catch.  He is another Naples product who is a very good student as well."

McCormick is a four-year honor roll student who earned seven varsity letters playing baseball and football. He has earned All-Conference, All-Area, and All-SWFL honors. McCormick hit .365 as a sophomore and then .406 with a home run, six doubles, and three triples as a junior. His senior season he hit .465 with seven doubles and three triples. He helped lead his team to a Regional Runner-Up finish in 2009 and then a conference title in 2011.
