Following a pair of losses to perennial national powers, Penn State
and West Virginia,
the Stetson men's soccer team (0-2-0) remains on the road this weekend, taking
on Houston Baptist (1-1-0) this Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
The Hatters dropped a tough 3-0 decision against the
defending Big Ten Runner-Up Nittany Lions to open the season, but the team
showed much improvement in a 1-0 defeat on the road at nationally ranked West Virginia on
Monday. Stetson competed with the
Mountaineers in every minute of the contest, but was just unable to put a goal
on the board.
Houston Baptist will play its third straight game at home to
open the season on Saturday, welcoming Stetson to town with a record of 1-1-0
in 2012. The Huskies opened the season
with a 5-1 win over Oral Roberts, and then lost to former A-Sun member Campbell
by a score of 1-0. Sophomore Zach Pierce
is leading HBU with three goals on the season, while junior Kristopher Tyrpak
has recorded a team-best four assists to start the year.
Fans can follow the action with Live Stats at

return to DeLand for the squad's home and conference-opener, a 7:00 p.m. tilt
against Jacksonville
on Friday, September 7.
