Men's Soccer Ends Season With Road Loss at FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Stetson men's soccer team ended the 2013 season on Sunday, falling to Florida Atlantic on the road by a score of 5-1. Junior Dwight Lodge scored the lone goal for the Hatters, his third of the season.

“It wasn't the result we wanted to end the season, but it was a game that allowed us to play some of our younger players that are trying to prove themselves for the future,” Stetson head coach T. Logan Fleck said.

“It was also good to see the character of our older players supporting the younger guys as they gained some valuable experience while they learned how challenging playing at this level can be,” Fleck continued.

Lodge scored unassisted in the 78th minute to make it 4-1 late in the contest. The Owls countered with a score just two minutes later to make the final score 5-1 in favor of Florida Atlantic.

“I was glad to see Dwight Lodge calmly score his opportunity, and I thought Sebastian Contreras played very well at center back and midfield throughout the entire game,” Fleck concluded.

Braxtoan Fuster led the Owls with two goals in the win, while Theo Jamilloux made two saves for FAU. Freshman Paul Ladwig made five saves in goal for Stetson.

Stetson ends the season with a record of 3-10-4, just missing out on the Atlantic Sun Tournament.
