Stetson women's soccer closes out the home portion of its 2014 schedule this weekend with a pair of games at the Athletic Training Center, and both matches have their own special significance.
The Hatters host Atlantic Sun Conference foe North Florida on Friday at 7 p.m. needing a victory to stay alive in the chase for an A-Sun Tournament bid. On Sunday the Hatters say goodbye to seniors Carmen Bernecker and Alexis Trybinksi when they host South Carolina State at 3 p.m.
Stetson (3-11-1 overall) is 1-4-0 in conference play following a pair of home losses last weekend. The Hatters are currently in seventh place in the A-Sun standings, one point behind Northern Kentucky for the sixth and final spot in the conference tournament.
North Florida (5-9-1) enters the weekend tied for second place with Lipscomb at 3-1-1. Both teams are five points behind league-leading FGCU. The Ospreys can move closer to securing a first-round tournament bye with a victory on Friday.
On Sunday the Hatters will toast Bernecker and Trybinski against the Bulldogs (1-11-0). Both will be honored in pregame ceremonies.
