Myeisha Hall Stepping Up as a Senior

Women's Basketball Stetson University

Myeisha Hall Stepping Up as a Senior

Stetson University senior guard Myeisha Hall had to be patient.  After transferring to Stetson from Old Dominion in December of 2012, Hall spent a year practicing, learning the system, and contributing any way she could while completing the NCAA's mandatory one-year residency period for transfers.

After becoming eligible last season, she played a key role off the bench, averaging better than eight points and four rebounds in 25 games for the Hatters.

Now, it is Hall's time to shine.  A likely fixture in the starting line-up, the West Palm Beach, Fla. native has played a team-high 70 minutes in the Hatters' first two games.  She is averaging 17.0 points and 3.0 rebounds and has helped lead Stetson (2-0) to its best start since 2000.

"It feels really good to be back," Hall said.  "I sat a year and really missed playing.  Now that I am starting, it just feels right."

Hall is tied for the team-lead with seven three-pointers, including four Wednesday night at UCF.  Her 19-point effort against the Knights was a Stetson career-high and one point shy of her collegiate career-high.

"Myeisha is just so effective in so many areas," head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I love the versatility that she brings to our team.  She is a great defender, and obviously she is scoring for us.  She can make her own shots and create shots for her teammates.   She can also play for a long stretch of time because she is in great shape."

Hall said she is trying to make the most of her opportunity this season.  Whether it be scoring, helping get defensive stops, or communicating with her teammates, she is once again doing whatever she can to help the team succeed.

So far, things are falling into place for Hall.  The senior ranks fourth in the league in scoring and second in three-point field goals with seven.  She also leads the team by averaging 35.0 minutes a game.

"It's kind of tough but I am getting there," Hall said about playing so many minutes.  "Each game becomes a little easier."

Hall and the Hatters will look for a 3-0 start on Saturday as they visit Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Hulman Arena.

Ryan Rouse will call the action on HatterVision audio.  Live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed, and HatCheck text messages will provide in-game updates as well.

Homecoming: Senior Jama Sharp will be making a homecoming trip this weekend.  The Mooresville, Ind. native will be playing just an hour away from her hometown on Saturday.

"I am very excited, first and foremost to see my family and all my friends," Sharp said.  "They are going to be at the game supporting Stetson.  It will be a good environment and Indiana State is a good team, so it will be a lot of fun."

Sharp's family will also be hosting the team for dinner on Friday.
