DeLand, Fla. -- After averaging 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in two road victories, Stetson University sophomore guard Brianti Saunders (Hilliard, Fla.) has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

It is the second time in her career that Saunders has earned A-Sun Player of the Week honors.

The 5-4 guard scored a team-high 20 points at UCF last Wednesday.  She netted 12 points in the final 7:30 of the game, which helped Stetson pull away from a 45-45 tie.

Saunders then scored a game-high 18 points at Indiana State, including 11 points in the second half.  Her effort helped Stetson rally from a four-point second-half deficit and gave the Hatters their first 3-0 start to a season since 1995.

Saunders also shot 54% from the floor and averaged 2.5 steals in 33.5 minutes for the week.

For the season, Saunders ranks fourth in the A-Sun in scoring (15.0 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (7.0 rpg).

It is the second straight week a Stetson player has been selected as the A-Sun Player of the Week.  Jama Sharp earned the honor last week.

Stetson (3-0) will participate in the Basketball Travelers Classic this Friday through Sunday in Waco, Texas.  The Hatters will play Marist at 6 p.m. Friday, 13th-ranked Baylor at 1 p.m. Saturday, and Utah State at 1 p.m. Sunday.
