DeLAND—Danielle Peele (Lake Mary, Fla.) has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play women's tennis at Stetson beginning next fall, Hatters head coach Kelly Anderson announced today. Peele is Anderson's first recruit as Stetson's head coach.
Listed as a four-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, Peele is ranked No. 35 in Florida and No. 52 in the Southeast. She currently attends Lake Mary Prep, where she was named as the Seminole County Girls Tennis Athlete of the Year by BrightHouse Sports Network.
“I could not be more excited for Danielle to become a Hatter and join the Stetson family,” Anderson said. “She is of the highest character, is extremely well-coached and has a game that will help us be very successful. It is evident that Stetson has been the dream of Danielle for many years, and the passion she has for the university will be infectious. We are thrilled to welcome Danielle and her family to the Hatter family.”
Peele has won 95 matches in six seasons at the High School level, and last season reached the semifinals of the 1A state tournament as a junior.
Since January, Peele has won five tournaments including the Crazy Gator Championships where she defeated four different nationally ranked opponents. She also took home the trophy at Harry Gilbert's Winter and Easter Opens, Orlando Open and the Jonesville Championships.
