Hatters Earn 5-2 Road Win at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. — Stetson Women's Tennis improved to 1-2 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Georgia Southern on Friday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center. The Hatters claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three and followed with four singles victories to secure the road win.

Stetson jumped out to an early advantage by taking the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Anastasija Adeikyte and Katsiaryna Tuliakova earned a 6-4 win over Franzi Heinemann and Evelyn Warkentin. Clelia Lombardi and Yuki Mizuguchi sealed the point at No. 3 doubles with a matching 6-4 victory against Nanaka Kijima and Mackenzie Leopold. The No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished, with Stetson holding a 5-3 lead.

In singles play, the Hatters built momentum with dominant straight-set wins. Mizuguchi cruised past Lisen Rinman, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles, followed closely by Adeikyte's 6-0, 6-1 victory over Leopold at No. 4. Georgia Southern answered with a point at No. 3 singles, as Angelina Mihajlovic defeated Dana Baidaulet, 6-2, 6-3.

Stetson continued to apply pressure as Lombardi picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kijima at No. 6 singles. Georgia Southern added its second point at No. 1 singles when Warkentin topped Pilar Astigarraga Harper, 6-4, 6-2. The match was clinched at No. 2 singles, where Tuliakova battled through three sets to defeat Heinemann, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, and seal the win for the Hatters.
