DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University junior forward Breana Bey (Jersey City, N.J.) was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

In Stetson's lone game last week, Bey scored 13 points behind a perfect 6-for-6 shooting performance in the Hatters' 24-point victory at Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.  Her back-to-back layups late in the second quarter gave Stetson the lead for good. She also grabbed six rebounds, including five on the defensive end, while playing 30 minutes in the game.

For the season, Bey is averaging 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.  She leads the Atlantic Sun and ranks fourth in the nation with a .783 field goal percentage.

The Hatters (2-1) host Armstrong State (5-0) at 5:30 p.m. Monday night.
