Hatters Edged at NJIT, 1-0

NEWARK, N.J.—NJIT scored a goal midway through the first half and the Highlanders made it stand up as they handed Stetson a 1-0 loss in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Saturday.

Mamadou Guirassy gave NJIT (5-4-2, 2-1-0) the only goal it would need in the 27th minute. Guirassy took a pass from Danny Cordeiro and scored just inside the post.

Guirassy's goal-scoring shot was one of 18 attempts for the game by NJIT, six of which were on goal. Stetson (3-6-2, 1-2-0) managed just seven shots but only one attempt was on goal.

Stetson keeper Paul Ladwig was outstanding once again for the Hatters, making five saves.

The Hatters now have an extended break before they play again. Stetson next faces ASUN foe FGCU, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14 in Fort Myers, Fla.
