Busmann, Cohen Lead Hatters Past UCF

DeLAND—Finn Busmann scored his first goal of the season in the 102nd minute, lifting Stetson to a 2-1 win over visiting UCF on Tuesday at the Athletic Training Center.

This was Stetson's first win over UCF since 2007, and just the 11th victory over the Knights in 47 all-time meetings.

Busmann fired a shot from the left side of the box, beating UCF keeper Matt Rosenberg for the game winner. Busmann's goal was made possible by Caleb Sandon's cross, which glanced off Luke Ferreira and right to Busmann for the game winner.

Overtime was made possible due to some good fortune. After dominating play for much of the match – Stetson out-shot the Knights by a 22-12 margin – Stetson (4-7-2) finally got on the board in the 85th minute. UCF was whistled for a hand ball in the box and Eyal Cohen knocked in the penalty kick, knotting the game at 1-1.

Despite out-shooting UCF, the Hatters managed just seven shots on goal before Busmann's winner. Interim head coach Jared Vock was proud that his team never got discouraged.

"We deserved that win," Vock said. "When you play good soccer things like this happen. We're playing positive right now. For us to come out and be the aggressor against a team like UCF says something about us."

UCF (3-8-0) got on the board just nine minutes into the match when Mattias Pyysalo broke free at midlfield and scored one-on-one with Stetson keeper Paul Ladwig. The Knights, however, never mounted much offense after that.

Ladwig finished the night with five saves for Stetson.

The Hatters continue their season-ending home stand on Saturday when they welcome Atlantic Sun Conference foe North Florida to the ATC for a 7 p.m. match.
