Collins, Morton, Suarez Earn ASUN All-Academic Honors

Stetson women's soccer standouts Sarah Collins, Annette Morton and Adrianna Suarez have been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Thursday.

Members of the team were selected by ASUN Sports Information Directors. Nominees were required to have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, have at least one full year of academic residency at their respective institution, and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's games.

Morton and Suarez, both juniors, are repeat selections for the Hatters. Collins, also a junior, is honored for the first time.

"I'm really happy for both Adrianna and Annette to repeat as Academic All-Conference selections," Stetson head coach Manoj Khettry said. "I'm so glad that they have the discipline and the consistency to keep their academic standards high. Sarah is such a hard worker when it comes to school. I'm happy for her to be recognized for her academic work; she has improved academically every semester while continuing to be a leader for us on the field. She continues to make me very proud of her achievements."

Collins currently carries a 3.52 GPA in Finance. A first-team All-ASUN selection as a forward, Collins is just the third player in program history to earn first-team all-conference honors in consecutive seasons. With the postseason beginning this weekend, Collins is second in the ASUN with 11 goals and 28 points. She is also tied for fifth in the league with a team-best six assists.

Morton is a Digital Arts major with a 3.92 GPA. A second-team All-ASUN selection, Morton is Stetson's top defender and the leader of a defense which has allowed just 21 goals in 16 games. Stetson's current goals-against average mark of 1.26 is the program's lowest in three seasons. Morton, who has played every minute of every game this season, has two assists to her credit.

Suarez is majoring in Business Administration, and owns a 3.96 GPA.  On the field, Suarez has served as a valuable reserve. She enters this weekend's ASUN Tournament match with North Florida second on the team with three goals and eight points.
